Mission

Mission=The Museum of Uintah County tells stories of the past, connects them to the present, and illustrates how even in the future we will be part of history. Come in and learn about the incredible people who made the Uinta Basin what it is today!

History

The Museum of Uintah County opened its doors on June 29, 1991, within Uintah County's Western Park Complex. In 2014, the Museum celebrated its relocation to 155 E. Main Street in Vernal, Utah. This move played a pivotal role in shaping the Museum into what it is today.

First Peoples Exhibit:

The First Peoples exhibit is home to traditional clothing, tools, pottery, and beadwork. Come see the beauty from the past and learn more about the First People who inhabited the Uinta Basin and surrounding areas.

Local History Exhibits​: We have many exhibits about the county's past, and the people who have become the prominent figures we know today.
First Lady Dolls Exhibit: The First Lady dolls are some of the most unique and beautifully made displays in Utah. Hand-crafted and painstakingly stitched, these dolls are a must see for any group.
Gun Collection​: Our gun collection includes a variety of firearms through the years, showcasing the craftsmanship and structural design of each era.

SUMMER READING WITH THE LIBRARY

Every summer, the Uintah County Library hosts an all inclusive summer reading program to promote reading, learning, and fun for everyone.

This program will begin on the first Tuesday in June! It will start at 10:00 am and end at 12:00 pm in the downstairs Conference Room in Library.

The Uintah County Heritage Museum encourages fine arts within the community by featuring a new exhibit each month.

Throughout the year, artists showcase a diverse range of art, sculpture, and photography. In addition, the Museum houses a wide variety of fine art alongside its artifacts, including several special collections.
